1989 190e with 152,000 miles DIY issues.?
Dear Gurus Mercedes Benz, I just bought a 1989 190e with 152,000 miles. These are problems I learned. 1) The seat of power drivers is not working. Just slide forward but not backward and resting does not go higher. 2) The window Left rear power does not work at all. 3) The door lock Drivers not lock / unlock at all. 4) The lights flash and a clicking sound in the front the passenger side is when the board unlock and lock the car with the number of passenger door lock. 5) The bell and the car has clearcoat top start. I was thinking of a joint work with car paint or Earl Scheib auto painting MAAC. The original paint color is a light metallic blue. I I was thinking of having the car painted a metallic gray color. Your thoughts please. I wonder which parts (costs) are needed and if I can fix it myself DIY easy. Repair any idea please? Thanks Email: rolands.benz @ yahoo.com
Go to the parts store and get a good contact cleaner spray aerosol and contacts of power accessories that are having problems. If this fails, you can try the junkyard or eBay for the replacement of use electric motors. I think the spray will fix the site as it works one way but not the other, so we know that the electric motor is good. You can pull the door skins off and check for loose wiring from the window and maybe a broken arm or something actuator for the door lock issues. Your Benz is more than likely is a relay that opens all doors unlock when you enter one of them, so logically I would see that as clicking under the dash and possibly not release the driver working. Just do a little research on contact spray cleaner and a visual inspection logic. Just be careful to eliminate door skins, little clips that hold the outer edge of the skin at the door are easy to break. Be kind to the skin of onlookers. OK ... with painting, you get what you pay! Earl Schieb and MAAC are the same thing now. One bought the other way or merged or something, the "I'll paint any car for any color "is now the diamond agreement" Ambassador of Luster "agreement. And the two proposals are completely despicable and an insult to professional painting or Benz. If the body is straight, no rust, a good paint shop will charge you about 2 or 3 high to make a quality paint job on your car ... and will last long after the glow of diamonds have blisters and flakes off and do not look good from the start, anyway!
